The Middle was set in the middle of the country in a middle class family home. We went 

for a bold all American palette. We filled the concept boards with classic postcards of Americana. The interior Heck house was built inside the façade we used as the exterior 

at Warner Ranch so we could use the kitchen to the backyard contiguously. Both the front and backyard played with judicious use of greens. We shot the dealership, the high school, and most of the community on location adding more traditional slightly dated details. We used bold colors and gave the world a crowded lived in feel. We   went for an overall real but happy and uplifting environment so that the family dysfunction played as relatable and funny.
